Severe drought hit the remote coastal village of Kiunga, Kenya. The village was forced to use brackish water to bathe, cook and drink. The water was untreated and dangerous, with E. coli becoming a factor. Due to the lack of clean water, children were dying of kidney failure and the overall health of the village deteriorated.
The GivePower Foundation used the Spectra 20,000-gallon containerized watermaker system to provide a long-term, fresh water solution for Kiunga. The system was paired with a solar array, so external power was not required. Local maintenance workers were trained to service the unit, and it continues to provide enough clean water daily to the entire community.

The devastating hurricanes of 2017 destroyed Puerto Rico’s fresh water infrastructure. Local water was unsafe and contaminated with lead, bacteria, chemicals and waste causing people to get sick. 3.2 million Puerto Ricans needed clean drinking and bathing water.
Multiple emergency relief organizations relied on our solutions to deliver safe water to Puerto Rico. The Aquifer Universal Watermaker was used to create water distribution hubs in all 78 municipalities. The easy-to-use BeFree 3L Filters were distributed to households allowing families to fill and drink straight from the filter without the need of a power source. Both solutions provided much needed aid to an area devastated by a natural disaster.
